Happy Birthday Pie?

When Kenny's Birthday came around this year we celebrated it in a new way.

First, it was a small affair with only our immediate family.

Second, he was served apple pie. When asked what cake he wanted for his birthday, Kenny replied, "Chocolate with M&Ms" Mommy went out to garage to get the M&M's, but returned to find that Kenny had changed his mind. "I changed my mind, can I have apple pie?"

I pulled out my tried and tested apple pie recipe and cooked him up an birthday pie.

Third, there was no presents to open. We ate pie, jumped into the van and went groccery shopping. We talked about going to the dollar store. But Kenny's mind was set! He didn't want to pick out something at the store. It was to be a surprise! Mommy took his money, and bought a few things that Kenny would like and brought them out to the car. He wanted them then and there. He didn't want to wait to wrap them at home.

It was an unusual birthday, but with no complaints, and everything he wanted, it was a great birthday just made for Kenny.
