A man came out and told us today was "Shop" day. Every Tuesday after hours, the shop was opened for the museum to work on the planes. Volunteers were invited to come and help rebuild planes. Rebuild engines, landing gear, wiring, or painting. Anything that would be required to get an old war plane working again.
Daddy and Mommy were thrilled! This would be an amazing opportunity! "Rebuilding history!"
Daddy went inside and asked about how to be involved. He was told to stop by any tuesday, and he would be put to work!
We were then taken inside the museum, and lights were turned on, and our family was given full run of the museum. We saw so many things, read so many stories, and saw little models, then out in the hanger the "real" thing. Of course, mommy's last set of batteries died, and we have hardly any pictures.
But we do have the memories, and excitement of knowing, that one of these days, Daddy will be working on fixing old planes, to make them like new again !
Mommy has learned this summer (Thanks Ryan) to have a new respect, and passion for flight! This wouldn't have been such an amazing event for her, if she hadn't had that time in Thunder Bay to learn to love airplanes, and the amazing thing called flight!
