Home Again

After returning home from Aggie Days, Adrian dumps out his bag, and explores all his treasures.

On the way home, we also stopped at the library and got out a huge pile of books.

Nicole emptied her bag from Aggie days, while Courtney and Sarah went straight for the books. Even Mojo checked out the new books from the library. When we get books out, we fill the bin the living room with everything and every kind of book you can imagine.

Kenny, also checks out the stickers, and fun activities in his bag.

Mommy was so happy to see everyone quietly enjoying all the learning material, she couldn't resist taking pictures!

Aggie Days is a Family Event

We visited a free attraction that comes to Lethbridge every year. Daddy came home and had three hours sleep before waking up to go with us. It was so fun to share this event together.

We saw climbed giant tractors, combines, and other farm equipment. The wheels of this one is as big as daddy, and is easy to climb.

We also sat on bleachers and watched how they mild a cow. It was neat to see how they do it now, and learn when they have to milk a cow separately from the rest of the herd.

We were able to see the two day old chicks, and pet the little ponies. We played guessing games, spun the wheel for prizes, and filled our bags with free pamphlets, activity books, magnets, rulers, recipes, and even egg cookers for the microwave.

Having Fun

We were surprised to find Mojo on the top of the railing watching us unload our food into the basement.
She climbed up a old chair, but isn't brave enough to jump to the ground. This picture is taken from the basement, looking out from behind the basement hatch.

After unloading the food, Adrian climbed into the back of the van and drove with Mommy to the front of the house again. "I'm Surfing" he yelled.

More Food

This is a stack of cases of empty cans. We borrowed a machine to seal food into cans. This is for some of the sacks, so we can put the cans downstairs, and not worry about the mice, or other things that can harm the sacks and spoil the food. It also will allow us to store the food longer.

We also got lots of toilet paper. This we stuff under Mommy and Daddy's bed.

The next picture is the stack of cans that we already had filled. There had been more sacks of food, but we had made an assembly line, and had already filled 9 cases. Each case contains 6 huge cans. One can can hold approx 2.8 L, or 5 lbs of beans or wheat.

The next picture, is where we took all the filled cans, and placed them downstairs, with the other food we had just purchased. Again, we made a line, and got everything downstairs and organized.

We are full, in this little room, but we will use the other shelves downstairs, for the rest of the food that we seal into cans.

This is enough for about 3 months. We are so happy, because there has been times, we have to use or storage. and knowing we have it is such a relief.

Food

We decided to fill up our food storage. Everyone helped. It was a wonderful example of family working together. There was not one complaint.

We borrowed Uncle James and Aunt Janey's van for the first load of things, because it was bigger, and could handle the 800 lbs of food.

This is our second trip, this time in out own van. Even Adrian helped carry things into the house.

You can see all the food on the floor from the previous trip, and then we brought is some from this load. most of this load stayed in the van, and we drove it around the house, to the back, where we access the basement.

You can see our shelves are full of food. Sacks of wheat, our wheat grinder (that we use all the time), oats, sugar, rice, potato flakes, noodles, oil, etc.

Toys are not just for fun!

In our house, anything can become a learning experience. When Sarah wanted to build some playground equipment for spot, it was not as easy as she first thought.

She started with the merry-go-round. She had to rebuild the base, so it would not fall over.

Then the plastic lid that had cut a hole into, bended too much, and would not allow spot to spin.

After much thought, she decided that metal was her only option, as building supports for the lid did not work. One old camping plate, and a drill, and we have a working Merry-go-round.

Next came the swing. Again, it wasn't as easy as she first thought.

First the swing looked good, but just hit the ground, until she shortened the supports.

Then it would fall over backwards. or forwards, depending on where the swing was.

Then she showed us all her problem. Quick as lightening, Courtney suggested putting the swing in the middle.

After much debate, and taking it apart many times, she finally completed a working swing for spot.

Look out... we might have an engineer on our hands in the future.

Getting Dirty is so much fun!

The kids have been asking, and asking, and asking mom, why there is a bottle of shaving cream in the craft supplies. Finally, mom gave in.

She said spread out the plastic cloth, and roll up the sleeves, and you will all see.

They had so much fun, making pictures, letters, and just an all around mess. Now they know why there is shaving cream, and how much fun it can be every once in a while.... every few years or so.

New Game for Fun!

We got a new game from homeschooling. It is called globe trotters. It involves, a large mat with all the land masses, and oceans on it. Someone spins a wheel, and like twister, you place hands and feet on the correct places.
Adrian and Nicole take a turn, while Kenny spins.

Sarah and Courtney take a turn.

Then Auntie Mandy tries it out with Courtney.

This is a lot of fun, and is fast becoming a family favorite.
