Playing at Pirates

The kids put on a pirate play.

It was cute, as the kids all worked together and showed off their own personalities. Sarah taped a pole to the ceiling, and used it as a mast.

Adrian scrubbed the deck, and complained he was hungry. Kenny loved his sword, and used a water bottle as a telescope. Courtney was the cook, (her joy and passion) while Sarah was the captain who made all the decisions and kept the play flowing.

Kenny's Volcano

Kenny says: This is Kenny's volcano. We are going to make is erupt sometime again.

These pictures are about making it erupt the first time we made it erupt.

First we put baking powder, then my red paint, then vinegar in it, and then it erupted.

To make the volcano, I put the powder that came with the kit in a bucket, and then we put water in the bucket, and then we mixed it, then we put it in the mold. then, you wait all day, then the day after you mix the stuff in, it is dry, and then you paint it, then you make it explode. You can make it explode lots of times, if it doesn't break.

Things kids do

I asked Adrian to change his shirt this morning, before breakfast, as the one he was wearing was dirty from the day before.  I talked to the others in the room, then turned around to leave.

There was Adrain on the floor with his clean shirt spread out flat on the floor under him and the arms stretched out each side.

I asked what he was doing, and he answered, " I'm checking to see if the shirt will fit me."

It was so cute, I snapped a picture!

Apple Sauce and Apple Juice

We picked our apples, and started the process of making juice and sauce. All the girls and boys have helped to cut, jar, and sauce the apple products.

We are excited to be eating it later this year!

Lots more to do still..

Keep on working!

Nicole can sew too!

Nicole had some stuffed animals that also needed repairs. She was so excited to sit down with mom and learn the blind stitch. We even used wrong coloured thread on purpose so she could see how it worked.

Both stuffies are feeling better, and are recovering on her bed.

Sarahs Sewing

As part of our homeschooling this year, any sewing repairs will be done by the girls.

Sarah was so excited. She immediately fixed a button, and sewed on some extra embellishments on a sleeve.

Then she fixed yet another hole in spot. Spot is now 8 years old, but still loved and repaired as required. She remembered how to do the blind stitch.

Good job girl!

Apple Art!

Anything and everything can and will become an art project at our house.

We picked some apples off our tree out front, and Courtney could see the potential that the rest of us missed in the spiral cut apple slices.

She created a light house, complete with arch. Then realizing it was missing something, she added water (soup). After completing her art, she signed it, with apple slices!

Very unique!

Happy Birthday Kenny!

Kenny had his 6th birthday! (Yes I am late getting the pictures up, but better late then never!)

He got tons of cards, and was so excited, be found a way to take the picture mom had up, so that he could show off his birthday cards. (Very creative Kenny!)

We had everyone over on Sunday to share a cake and be together for an extend family birthday. Everyone was there....except Dad, who was working very hard in lethbridge that day.

But on his REAL birthday, daddy was around. We made a chocolate cake, with his favourite colour of icing (green) and decorated it with candles the shape of his favourite animal! (cows)

Happy 6th birthday Kenny!
