Climibing to new hights

While visiting Indian Battle Park in Lethbridge with the Holthe's, we decided to climb up to the top of the coulee. The stairs are made of metal grating so you can see through to the ground.

The girls were running up the stairs as fast as they could, but the boys were not quite so sure.

Kenny and Adrian held tight to the railing or the metal grating as they crawled up on all fours.

American Pelicans Land in Lethbridge

American Pelicans are coming north. They have landed in Lethbridge at the Old man River. We also heard, and saw them flying over in Waterton while we were camping.

It is an amazing site to see. A group will swim across the river together. All at the same time the pelicans will put their heads into the water, again at the same time, they will all rise up.

It was as if they were dancing to music together.

Homeschooling with Friends

The Holthe family homeschools just like us.

They came over to visit yesterday and Mommy couldn't help but snap a quick picture as they were all sitting at the table.

Darae was setting up Monopoly, Brustun was playing Moving Monkeys, Courtney was writing a story about animals, Nicole was making a book on how to make speggetti, Desanna was making a book, and Sarah taking a break from her math book, to play with tanagrams.

We see the Holthes often, and enjoy sharing all we learn with them.

Where did the mountain go?

The day we left, the sky was overcast when we woke up. This is a picture about 6:30 in the morning with Daddy at the camp fire. (Yes, We were all surprised to learn Daddy can be up early without coffee or kids climbing on him) Behind him, is the same mountain courtney took a picture of, but now we see none of it.

The morning was warmer then we thought it would be, and surprisingly, Mommy and Daddy were the first ones up for a change. It was quiet and peaceful, to sit by the fire early and watch the sun rise.

Mountains

Courtney says, "I would want to own this mountain if I could because it is so tall and beautiful. As soon as we walk out of our tent, we could see this mountain."

Camping at Belly River

This is what Nicole says
"These are the mountains. We are camping in them. It is really cold at night. Every night we have to take our shoes inside the tent. The mountains are beautiful here. No food was allowed in the tent because bears could come in. And no drinks allowed, cause bears might be thirsty too. Or you could spill it in the tent.

It is fun camping. It is so fun, I would like to live in a tent. I like it so much that I could even own my own tent."

Taste the Nations

Our family attended an amazing event.

Homeschooling families who wanted to participate, were asked to learn about a county, make a display, and bring food from that country for others to sample.

We all were given passports, and received stickers to place the passport, after visiting and sampling each county. Kids were also encouraged to write down anything they learned in their passports if they wished.

This was a whole family event, and had maybe 40-59 people of all ages.

Sarah and Courtney worked on a Mexico display together including information, pop up book, a salt map, Popsicle stick Aztec temple, and cornbread pudding.

Nicole made an Elfiel tower, and Mommy made crepes with pudding inside to serve.
